This is the Letter Read to the Rock Springs Congregation Wednesday Night October 6th.

Dear Church Family,

The time has come for Veronica and I to take the next step of faith to which God has called us. I am stepping down as Student Minister and would like to thank all of you for your support during my 18 years as member and staff member of Rock Springs. There are many uncertainties and obstacles that lay ahead, but we are confident of the work God has called us to and confident in His provision to meet all of our needs.

By God’s grace our goal is to plant a biblically sound, healthy, growing and multiplying church for the yet unreached in Greenville, SC. Greenville’s metro area includes roughly 650,000 people, 80% of which do not attend any religious organization. As the city has become an international market place and people have relocated from all over the US and the World the percent of church attendance in Greenville has steadily declined. On October 25th we will begin pursuing God’s calling to our part in reversing this trend full time.

It is painful to leave so many friends and partners in the Lords work behind but anytime God calls you to something it also includes the call to leave something behind, often the things we cherish most. I would be a hypocrite to continue to preach a message of exercising audacious faith in order for the world to know Christ and not follow God where he is so clearly leading.

Although I will not be involved in the daily affairs of ministry at Rock Springs anymore we will not be strangers. I thank God for Rock Springs and the way He used the church to radically change my life and grow my faith. My heart for evangelism and foundation in the word of God is a direct result of the teaching I received at Rock Springs. Our relationship with our Pastor, staff, and each of you will continue as it has in the past, as dear friends and partners in ministry.

We desperately need your prayer support as we pursue this calling.  Keep us on your hearts and in your prayers as you will be in ours.

This letter will be posted on my blog for one week for your reference and for those not in attendance.

Grace and Peace,

Jonathan, Veronica, Max and Naomi Day
